I drove one of those Ford v10s once, from SW to SE michigan. Holy shit. I think the torque is measured in Space Shuttles.

When I was a teenage firefighter (mid-90's), my department bought a Chevy C3500 dually with a 454. The first night we had it, we burned through an entire tank of gas by "testing" it's abilities.
This entailed burn outs/brake stands, hauling ass up and down the highway directly in front of our station... Good times/responsible use of tax payer money.

A guy I went to school had one of these engines in a lifted Excursion and he got about the same as my 4Runner. So about an average of 12.

Except the truck is a Ford and the engine is 1.2L smaller and is SOHC not OHV.

I know, what I meant is that the only other 6-speed V10 car for $17,000 you can buy is that. I don't think even Magnum SRT10s go that cheap anymore, they still claim the "sports truck" premium that the F-350 doesn't.

Oh, my bad. A straight pipe on the 6.8 V10 sounds insane.

12.8mpg. I own a 2003. I can get 14mpg but 12.8 is the avg.

Of course, you can haul a 10,000 lb trailer behind it and get 12.8 or be completely empty and get 12.8. It also almost never kicks down a gear when hauling anything, that V10 just rolls along.

I enjoyed reading this and visualizing Patrick Bateman doing it (particularly because the mid-90s were post-American Psycho, so it's like being a teen firefighter was somehow his next job).
